Peptides and Drug Testing: What Athletes Need to Know
If you're subject to drug testing, read this before you use any peptide product, in any form, from any brand, including ours.
Key takeaways
- BPC-157, thymosin β4 and its derivatives such as TB-500, and MOTS-c are prohibited at all times, in and out of competition.
- The route doesn't matter. A patch, a pill or an injection of a prohibited substance is still a prohibited substance.
- Under anti-doping rules, athletes are responsible for any prohibited substance found in their bodies, whether or not they meant to take it.
- TITAN, GLOW, PR1ME and IGNITE contain at least one prohibited ingredient. AMPLIFY, BALANCE and RENEW contain none of the three.
- The List changes every year. Check Global DRO and your governing body before using anything.
Anti-doping rules are separate from FDA approval, from whether a product is legal to buy, and from whether a doctor recommended it. A product can be legal to own and still end a season. Here's what tested athletes need to know.
Who this applies to
Anyone subject to testing under the World Anti-Doping Code, which USADA administers in the U.S.: Olympic and Paralympic sport, many national governing bodies, and sanctioned events. Professional leagues and the NCAA have their own lists, which often cover the same substances. Recreational athletes who aren't tested aren't bound by these rules, but they should still know what's in a product.
How the WADA List treats common peptides
| Ingredient | 2026 WADA classification | Status | In these LavION formulas |
|---|---|---|---|
| BPC-157 | S0, Non-approved substances | Prohibited at all times | TITAN, GLOW, PR1ME |
| Thymosin β4 and derivatives, e.g., TB-500 | S2.3, Growth factors and growth factor modulators | Prohibited at all times | TITAN, GLOW |
| MOTS-c | S4.4.1, Metabolic modulators (AMPK activators) | Prohibited at all times | IGNITE |
"At all times" means in and out of competition, and a needle-free route doesn't change a substance's status. AMPLIFY, BALANCE and RENEW contain none of these three ingredients. USADA's advisory on the 2027 List, which takes effect January 1, 2027, continues to name BPC-157 (S0) and TB-500 and thymosin β4 (S2), and adds peptides generally to S0. Check Global DRO and your governing body before use.
Why route doesn't matter
The Prohibited List is about the substance, not how it gets into your body. A needle-free patch containing BPC-157 is treated the same as an injection of BPC-157.
Separately, intravenous infusions or injections of more than 100 mL per 12-hour period are prohibited as a method, whatever is in them, unless given during a hospital admission or certain clinical procedures. That's relevant to IV NAD+ drips.
S0 is a catch-all
Section S0 covers any pharmacological substance that isn't addressed elsewhere on the List and has no current government approval for human therapeutic use. That means an ingredient can be prohibited without being named on the List [1]. USADA names BPC-157 as an example of an S0 substance [2].
Violations without a positive test
Anti-doping violations don't require a positive test. Admissions, possession and records can all be enough, and athletes have been sanctioned for BPC-157 use that was disclosed or prescribed by a doctor [6]. A prescription doesn't make a non-approved substance permitted.
What to do before using any product
1. Look up every ingredient in Global DRO [4].
2. Check your governing body's rules, which may add substances.
3. Ask your team physician or athletic trainer.
4. Don't rely on a salesperson, a website or a friend, including us.
5. If in doubt, don't use it.
Which LavION formulas are affected
| Formula | Contains | Tested-athlete status |
|---|---|---|
| TITAN | BPC-157, TB-500 | Contains prohibited substances |
| GLOW | BPC-157, TB-500 | Contains prohibited substances |
| PR1ME | BPC-157 | Contains a prohibited substance |
| IGNITE | MOTS-c | Contains a prohibited substance |
| AMPLIFY | NAD+, GHK-Cu | None of the three; still check Global DRO |
| BALANCE | KPV, NAD+, GHK-Cu | None of the three; still check Global DRO |
| RENEW | Glutathione, GHK-Cu | None of the three; still check Global DRO |
If you're a tested athlete and want an NAD+ formula, AMPLIFY is the one without MOTS-c. Discuss any product with your team physician first.

Frequently asked questions
Will BPC-157 fail a drug test?
BPC-157 is prohibited at all times under the WADA List. Detection methods and windows vary, and violations don't require a positive test, so don't rely on a guessed clearance time.
Is TB-500 banned?
Yes. Thymosin β4 and its derivatives, including TB-500, are prohibited at all times.
Is MOTS-c banned?
Yes. MOTS-c is prohibited at all times as a metabolic modulator (S4.4.1).
Does using a patch instead of an injection get around the rules?
No. The List is about the substance, not the route.
Is NAD+ prohibited?
NAD+ isn't named on the List, but IV infusions over 100 mL per 12 hours are prohibited as a method. Check Global DRO for any product.
Which LavION formulas are OK for tested athletes?
AMPLIFY, BALANCE and RENEW contain none of BPC-157, TB-500 or MOTS-c. Still check every ingredient in Global DRO and with your governing body.
Can LavION guarantee I'm eligible?
No. Only you, your governing body and Global DRO can confirm that.
