How to Use a LavION Patch: Mixing, Application, the Every-5-Days Routine and Common Mistakes
A few minutes to apply, up to 12 hours of wear, and nothing to do for the next few days. Here's exactly how to do it.
Key takeaways
- Mix the amber vial with 1.5 mL of sterile water right before you apply. Never more than 2 mL, and don't mix ahead of time.
- Always pull out the clear activation arrow tab. The patch won't work unless it's removed.
- Wear the patch for up to 12 hours. Standard use is one patch every 5 days.
- Showers and light exercise are fine. Avoid heavy sweating, swimming, baths and saunas while wearing a patch.
- Wait at least 48 hours before using the same spot again, and stop if irritation persists.
LavION was designed to be simple: no needles, no refrigeration and no daily routine. Getting a few details right makes it simpler still. Before your first patch, complete your Good Faith Exam with a licensed provider.
Step 1: Prepare your skin
Choose a spot on the upper arm, forearm, thigh, lower abdomen, upper back or top of the foot. The top of the foot is a good choice if you have sensitive skin.
- Avoid joints, tattoos, scars, irritated skin and areas that move a lot.
- Remove body hair from the spot if needed.
- Open the patch, then clean the skin with the alcohol prep pad included in your kit and let it dry.
Step 2: Mix the amber vial
- Remove the cap from the amber vial.
- Add 1.5 mL of sterile water from the blue ampule. Don't exceed 2 mL.
- Replace the cap firmly, then gently swirl or invert until the powder is fully dissolved. Don't shake it hard. If needed, let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
Mix right before you apply. Don't mix ahead of time or store mixed solution. For why, see How Long Do Reconstituted Peptides Last?
Step 3: Load the pad
Place the round white cotton pad over the vial opening and gently flip the vial. Don't pour, so nothing spills. Let the solution soak evenly into the pad.
Step 4: Apply and activate
1. Peel off the white backing by its tab.
2. Apply the patch to your prepared skin and press so it sticks smoothly.
3. Pull out the clear activation arrow tab under the center tab, all the way. The patch won't work unless it's removed.
4. In high-movement areas, put kinesiology (KT) tape over the patch to keep it in place.
Step 5: Wear it for up to 12 hours
- Wear it day or night during normal activities.
- Light exercise is fine. Avoid workouts that make you sweat heavily.
- Showers are fine. Don't soak the patch: no swimming, baths or sauna while you're wearing it.
- Most people feel little or nothing. LavION runs at a very low current, averaging about 0.1 mA.
Step 6: Remove and care for your skin
- After 12 hours, wet the patch with warm, soapy water and peel it off. It's single-use, so throw it away.
- A wet, blue-tinted pad is normal.
- If you see redness, aloe or an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream can help, and you can moisturize if you like [1].
- Wait at least 48 hours before applying a patch to the same spot again.
Your routine
Standard LavION use is one patch every 5 days, worn for up to 12 hours. The days between patches aren't wear time. Use one patch per session, and follow your provider's guidance if it's different.
Give it several weeks of consistent use before judging how you feel.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting to pull out the clear activation arrow tab.
- Adding more than 2 mL of water, or shaking the vial hard.
- Pouring the solution onto the pad instead of flipping the vial onto it.
- Mixing the formula hours or days ahead of time.
- Applying to wet, oily or lotioned skin, or over a joint, tattoo or scar.
- Using a patch daily. Standard use is one every 5 days.
- Wearing the patch while swimming, in the bath or in a sauna.
- Using the same spot within 48 hours.
- Treating the milligrams on the label as the amount absorbed. They're the amount loaded.
Storage and travel
Store unopened kits at room temperature, out of direct sun and hot cars. Unmixed formulas last up to 3 years when stored as labeled. Traveling? Pack a pouch, not a cooler, and read Traveling With Peptides.
Stop use and contact your provider if irritation persists or you notice a concerning reaction.

1.5 mL of sterile water from the blue ampule. Don't exceed 2 mL.
Do I have to pull a tab to turn it on?
Yes. Pull out the clear activation arrow tab under the center tab completely after you apply the patch. It won't work unless the tab is removed.

Showers and light exercise are fine. Avoid heavy sweating, and don't swim, take a bath or use a sauna while wearing a patch.
Can I mix the formula ahead of time?
No. Mix it right before you apply the patch, and don't store mixed solution.
